I am everything that You are not. Still You didn’t completely destroy me. Still You show a way leading me back to You.

I’ve cooked several times before but today the world got to see just how excited I was to have the kitchen all to myself. If it wasn’t for the ShopRite cashier calling after me “Miss! Miss!” I wouldn’t have realized that I was leaving with an empty shopping cart. Oh how my cheeks glowed scarlet with embarrassment. This simple dish called Beef Bourguignon turned out to be a success (or I like to believe it did). My knife cutting skills have certainly improved. And that feels pretty good.

Finals week frenzy (part 2): things I’d rather be doing than studying.

-Grooving to Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. YouTube, you will do for now.

-Going home for good where the family’s at.

-Catching up with my lady friends.

-Pigging out on Popeye’s chicken with Sam.

-Taking Emma on a walk and occasionally getting myself tangled in the leash.

-Playing a nasty game of soccer.

-Exploring with my much neglected DSLR.

-Gardening.

-Cruising by the countryside.

Finals week frenzy (part 1): it’s funny how…

How my sophomore year in college is almost over.

How intended one hour naps never go as planned because I snooze for two hours.

How I crave food like a pregnant woman.

How upon studying, my alertness goes down the drain into the sewer of nothingness.

How I even made it this far into the semester. Thank You, God.

Enjoyed a quiet sunrise at 6am before leaving for observations, had a difficult/amusing time trying to understand what my taxi driver was saying, saw a beautiful blue home during the ride, found a lovely napkin note waiting for me at the apartment, hopped unto a train back home, and so long acne…you will not be missed. Here’s to another Friday.

11:29pm thought

“God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, ‘If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.’ So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea.” -Exodus 13:17-18

This sounds a lot like what God is doing in my life right now. God knows it’s worth taking me the long and difficult way if that’s what it takes for me to cling unto Him.

The kind of week when…

I exchange smiles with a janitor.

A ten minute nap before class turns into a two hour suspension of consciousness.

Sidewalk chalk drawings of the sun are brighter than the real thing.

Dipping toast in coffee tastes better than it sounds.

Strolling through a garden on a rainy day with the boyfriend feels like heaven.

My 9-year old Sunday School student is a nasty bowler. Proud teacher right here.

I wish I could have gone home to see my brother go to prom in a white tuxedo.

Eating home baked pizza and watching The Land Before Time is how the apartment mates and I utilize our study break time.
